Foreign students continue to turn away from US universities

This article documents the decline in international student enrollment at US universities, with student visa issuances dropping 40% from 2015 to 2017 and first-time enrollment falling 7% in fall 2017. While a 2014 policy change extending Chinese student visa renewals to five years partially explains the visa decline, enrollment figures confirm the US is genuinely losing appeal among foreign students.
