This article reports on a large-scale European Social Survey finding that Europeans, while generally open to immigration, prefer immigrants of the same race or ethnic group as their country’s majority. Respondents across 30 countries scored willingness to accept same-race immigrants at 2.86 out of 4, compared to 2.51 for different-race immigrants, with the gap varying significantly by country.
