View project ↗The U.S. immigration agency is changing the H-1B selection process from a random lottery to a weighted lottery to give better odds to more experienced workers. But is it better? Does making 4x salary make someone more valuable to American than someone making 1x salary? I wrote a hypothetical think piece asking audience to design the selection process for skilled immigrants to the United States. I then simulate the results to show how different policy priorities would shape which foreign workers are admitted to the United States.
